I installed Lion on Thursday night. While there’s much to like about it, I’ve also come across my first annoyance.

I use a Magic Mouse with my iMac. I like the gestures available for the mouse and am using them extensively. I especially like the additional set of gestures made available for Lion. But the gesture to swipe through browser tab history in Safari is starting to annoy me. When I touch the mouse to click a link, Safari tries to swipe to the previous page in the history. That action invalidates the click on the link. This happens almost every time. So, in practice, I’m clicking twice on every link.

I’m sure there’s a programmatic way to tighten the tolerance for those swipes, requiring a bit more than a touch on the left side of the mouse to activate. I hope we’ll see that in a Lion update.
